Fundraising

Many parents and students have expressed interest in trying to solicit donations for the trip from family and friends.  Below is a sample fundraising letter.  You may edit it as you see fit.  Obviously, with the advent of crowd sourcing sites like GoFundMe, there are some ways to make some decent money to put toward your trip.  Additionally, I am including a link to a site that offers travel scholarships for students in need.

Dear Friends & Family,

I will be soon be participating with my teachers and other students from my school on an educational field trip to Washington DC, New York, Boston, and other historical destinations.  This field trip ties directly into the curriculum I will be studying in my social studies class.  It is a once in a lifetime opportunity for me to literally experience history! 

The reason for my letter is I would like to help my parents by earning and raising a portion of the money myself.  When I return from my trip, I will be able to share the pictures and experiences that I had with all of you.  It would mean a great deal to me if you were able to sponsor me for $20 or more to help make this dream come to true!  Thank you for your interest in me!
