Trip Rules

Trip Rules

We are traveling 3,000 miles away from home.  We are spending 144 hours together in hotels, on airplanes, in a motor coach, and visiting some of our nation’s most treasured places.  We are visiting cemeteries, museums, theaters, battlefields, and national monuments.  We are walking through very busy streets in very big cities.  Mr. Sheridan has certain rules and expectations, not because he is a control freak, but because when we all do what we agree to do, we can see more, do more, and have more fun!

Mr. Sheridan agrees to organize and lead a safe, fun, and memorable trip for everyone!  Here’s what you agree to:

  1. Students will wear masks when required, and will wear wristbands and ID badges at all times. ID badge shall be visibly worn above all clothing.
  2. Students will use the buddy system at all times. Students shall NEVER wander off anywhere by themselves.
  3. Students will listen and follow directions the first time they are given.
  4. Students will follow all airport and airline safety regulations, and behave appropriately in all aircraft.
  5. Students will remain in their own hotel room each evening until breakfast the next morning.
  6. Students will be polite and respectful to each other and to everyone around them.
  7. Students will act appropriately in museums, national parks, cemeteries, theaters, and other venues.
  8. Students will not cause new drama or add to any existing drama.
  9. Students will be on time, every time.  To help with this, students should use a watch (in addition to a cell phone) to keep time.
  10. Students are expected to pick up after themselves.  Your trash and your belongings are your responsibility.
  11. Students may only use cell phones and other portable electronic devices (iPods, etc.) in their hotel room, at meal times, or while in transit from one major city to another.  Cell phones used during the rest of the time (“tour time”) will be confiscated and held until the end of the trip. For the safety of our coach driver, there will be no photography on the bus after 5:00pm.
  12. All medications (over-the-counter or prescription) must be accompanied by written parent authorization and shall be kept by and dispensed by your assigned chaperone for the duration of the trip.  Life-saving meds (asthma inhaler, glucagon, epi-pen, etc.) should be indicated on the Emergency Medical Form then stay with the student at all times during the tour. The student shall be responsible for requesting any meds that need to be taken on a schedule.
  13. Chaperones help Mr. Sheridan to keep students safe and enforce the rules of our trip.  Students will listen to, and respect the authority of, all chaperones.  Chaperones may get preferential seating on the airplane, in the coach, and while dining.
  14. All school rules, including the school dress code and no-gum rule, are in effect unless otherwise indicated.
  15. Any student who, after being reminded and warned, still cannot follow the rules while on the tour will be sent home at the PARENT’S expense with no refund offered.
You will IMMEDIATELY be sent home at your parent’s expense, no questions asked, if:

  • You are a girl in a boy’s room, or a boy in a girl’s room.
  • You are in possession of, or under the influence of, tobacco, alcohol, or any other drugs.
  • You violate any local, state, or federal law.
